Sneak Peek

HOw does almost a week go by? Yikes...

I guess cause I was trying to finish 58!!! artfest fatbook pages. Here are some sneak peeks. I will post more later. I got them all mailed out though yesterday - that's a relief!

I also went to some flea markets on Sat and found a great new one! Tons of stuff crammed in and good prices! I will show pics of some stuff tomorrow. Getting dark here now to take them.

And on Monday, I took Sarah for her drivers written test and she got it! Yay! Now she has a year to do her drivers test. She drove home part of the way and she did really well - Way to go Sarah! She is happy.

Ya know, I don't really mind if the time flies right now cause its almost Feb and that is the worst month for me - dark and cold and neverending. Good thing its short!

So true..

Why I love Ontario

It's Winter in Ontario
And the gentle breezes blow,
70 miles an hour at 52 below!
Oh, how I love Ontario,
When the snow's up to your butt.
You take a breath of winter air
And your nose is frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful,
I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave Ontario
Cause I'm frozen to the ground.

Some more Etsy

This is a photo page I put on Etsy last week. 2 sides of pictures from 1926-27.

And in other news... Sarah got her hair all chopped off! It looks good -she surprised me when I picked her up after christmas break. Here it is straightened, but she also lets it go curly and it looks cute. It makes her look older which is appropiate since it was just her 16th birthday.

Isn't she a cutie?

Etsy...

Some more items I listed yesterday,

This is a great vintage photo page from an old album. It would be great altered or used as a frame for a neat photo or small painting. I am selling this for $5.00 and I have more of these in different shapes too.

This one of a kind tin type photo is listed for $10.00.

I am working on some more things too!

Charms

This is an example of a charm I made for a swap. it had to be altered. These are metal discs from electrical panels covered in vintage sheet music and ledger paper. I had to make 3 of them, a lot faster than 52! I will show those once I get mine back.

The front..

and back.

Well, I better get some more things listed on etsy!

My shoes

I wrote about my funky shoes a while ago, I did finish them and now I am posting the results!

I bought these at winners - love that store! and they are velvet with embroidered flowers on the side.

The toes were very white though and blank...

So I wrote on them in permanent marker! I love them - Sarah and Sean laugh at me, but I just have to look at my feet to remind me not to be one of the "sheep" and to create every day!

And I wanted to post this picture of roses that Sarah got at her Dads for her 16th. Pretty huh?

I think this would look nice blown up and sepia toned. Might try that!

New Years Swap

I know...A little late for new years but I wanted to show this swap I sent for new years. You had to send something they would like to do, a charm for new years and a treat to have on new years.

She said she was interested in making jewelry so I sent some beads and supplies. She also likes the color blue and turquoise, so I tried to tie that color into everything. The card inspired all those colors too!

Some papers and stickers - she likes bees

The charm,

And then I wrapped everything in paper and labeled it all. She said she enjoyed it all!

For the treat, I sent some great flavoured hot chocolate.

Today, another day off school - this time freezing rain. Sarah had a test and a project due on Tues, so now some extra time!

Skinny book pages

OK..Kids back to school.. except yesterday Fog day.

Not snow day.

FOG.

In January??? The snow is slowly melting but I'm sure it will be back.

Time to get moving on some more projects. new month, new year, new things!!

I entered this project last minute over at altered abbey because she had some flakers. It was to make 26 skinny book pages- all original art, not copies! I wondered about doing this because they had to be sent by the end of Dec to make it on time. I ended up spending the weekend before new years cutting and pasting! The pages are 4x8 so I cut out all the cards and then glued on vintage sheet music on the back.

The fronts had vintage ledger paper.

ON the back I also punched out a maple leaf and put some hand made red paper under neath to show it off!

In keeping with the pines theme, I cut out pine trees out of different scrap paper after drawing them on freehand. All with the same stumps.

This is the front and back of them. I handsigned them all and punched a hole in the top corner and added a neat yarn. There is also a stamp on the bottom that is hard to read that says - happiness, bliss, joy, laugh.

All of these pages will go into making a book that I will get back with 25 original pages of other artists! Can't wait!

I've also done 52 valentine charms and 42 recipe cards and tag for other swaps. I will show these after I get mine back... no peeking!

And some awesome peppermint bark made by Sarah.

Getting back into the swing of things now that holidays are over and...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH!!

16!! Now to learn how to drive!

We just got back from watching I am legend for her birthday. Pretty Cool. Now lazy day tomorrow and I get to work on my recipe pages. All copied, just now to embellish and finish up to mail. I will take some pics of them when done.

Winter...

Christmas is over - it was good. New Years Eve -check, it went good too. Now 2008! Here's to a great year.

I sent my winter envelope out last week - they are finishing submissions on Jan 30 and hopefully it makes it to UK by then. The person running it, is making a book! (crossing fingers here) and also having an exhibition of all of the 450+ entries where the owners recieve 70% of all sales. You can read more about it at mailmeart.com.

I think its time to take the tree down and hopefully get some of the house organized. We were away the last 2 days and all weekend I was working on some skinny book pages I had to send on Mon. I also finished 52 charms for a valentines swap. Next is a recipe swap at Karla's cottage. I might work on that later. Sarah is home the rest of the week, so spending time with her too. Her 16th (AHHH how did this happen?) birthday is on Sat so we are making plans for that too.

Talk soon.
